The Most Overlooked Secret to Boost Productivity

boost productivity while enhancing your wellness, sleep, focus, energy, and inspiration.

Business owners, executives, managers, students, and those working from home... what do they all have in common?

They all need help with increasing productivity, energy, focus, inspiration, motivation, and overall wellness. Because no one who strives to truly be productive and efficient has time to deal with the afternoon slump, sleepless nights, feeling ill, or feeling stuck.

It is no secret: when you take care of your body, your body takes care of you. Feeding yourself high quality food, engaging in a fitness routine, drinking plenty of water, and acquiring plenty of sleep are all important factors to becoming as productive and efficient as possible.

However, when you look into your overall lifestyle, there is often one overlooked piece to the wellness puzzle that can have some seriously profound results!

What is this elixir of life changing awesome? Essential Oils

Essential oils provide a pivotal role in your wellness routine, and offer a healthy alternative to popular chemical-laden options. Through truly nontoxic living you can achieve so much more since you're body isn't bogged down with constantly needing to recover from toxin exposure.

In fact, essential oils have been quickly embraced by people all over the world for centuries! These little bottles of oil may help you with:

  • enhancing your workouts,
  • increasing your focus,
  • finding more inspiration,
  • reducing your stress,
  • enhancing the quality of your sleep,
  • boosting your energy and confidence,
  • enhancing your overall physical and mental wellness,
  • .. and so much more...

All of these things are especially important when you're working, especially in higher profile careers!

Can those little bottles of oil really help?

The short answer: yes!

Focus

Rosemary Essential Oil has been scientifically proven to improve memory recall, focus, and mood.

Japanese research scientists who conducted a study about the effect of lemon essential oil on the ability to focus reported that the diffusion of lemon essential oil into an office environment dramatically improved mental accuracy and concentration. The research results showed that the typical mistakes were reduced by 54 percent when lemon oil was diffused into an office or work room.

Peppermint essential oil is known for its energizing, minty aroma. It is a staple oil for helping boost your energy and helping you focus.

Basil essential oil enhances your mental alertness, helping you stay focused and on task

In the DIY blends below, add them to the diffuser, or use in a 5ml roller bottle filled the rest of the way with a carrier oil and topped with a roller top.

Focus better without the DIY

Because realistically, we don't all have time to DIY everything. Thankfully there are some pre-made essential oil blends that are ready to go... just drip a few drops into a diffuser and you're ready to go!

Brain Power Essential Oil Blend is one of my favorites. It is a blend of sandalwood, cedar wood, Melissa, frankincense, blue cypress, lavender, and helichrysum. Its woody aroma is powerfully uplifting and mentally-energizing that helps provide an atmosphere conductive to deep concentration and focus during strenuous mental activity. Brain Power works best when diffused or diluted and applied to your neck, throat, or worn as a perfume/cologne.

Clarity is another favorite that we use all the time. Its a blend of basil, cardamom, rosemary, peppermint, rosewood, geranium, lemon, palmarosa, ylang ylang, bergamot, Roman chamomile, and jasmine. This blend of oils is known for their synergistic influence to help increase your mental alertness. It is best used when applied across your eyebrows, on the back of your neck, on your temples, and on your wrists. It also works well used as a perfume/cologne, and pairs brilliantly with Brain Power.

Motivation Essential Oil Blend is phenomenal to use to overcome procrastination! It is a blend of Roman chamomile, spruce, ylang ylang, and lavender essential oils. It is also brilliant at helping you overcome emotional blocks or fear of achieving goals and motivating you to get moving during those times when you just don't feel like doing anything.

Fun, inspired by Oola, was specifically formulated to help enhance your feelings of enthusiasm and enjoyment. It is a blend of spearmint, cedarwood, myrtle, lemon, grapefruit, tangerine, jasmine, and nutmeg. This may seem like an unconventional oil for helping you focus on work, but it has been instrumental in helping make work more fun and bringing passion back into what you're doing... which I truly believe is a major factor in being productive. The more fun you can make your tasks, the more positive energy you sink into what you're doing... and when you enjoy what you're doing, the quality of your work will increase. It is best diffused or applied to the back of your neck. Fun is already diluted with coconut oil, so you do not need to dilute it more.

Inspiration

Inspiration comes from all different places. Essential oils have an incredible ability to positively enhance our moods, just as well as they are able to help facilitate different mindsets. Feeling inspired is no different.

Lemon, peppermint, and rosemary are staples for productivity as they set your environment for the best type of work setting. This helps keep you focused, energized, inspired, and ready to create.

Blending lavender with cedarwood and vetiver helps to calm your mind to enable you to become inspired without all sorts of thoughts piling up.

My favorite blend to inspire is adding lavender and frankincense to the Citrus Fresh essential oil blend (which contains spearmint and multiple citrus oils).

Be Inspired without the DIY

You don't need to worry too much about DIY blends, though, with having a few excellent choices that are pre-blended for your convenience.

Envision is my favorite blend to inspire creativity with a combination of spruce, geranium, orange, lavender, sage, and rose essential oils. It helps you look forward to the future, find alternative ways to be more resourceful, and helps you envision what the end of your current project will look like. It is a great oil blend to help you move past those obrusive "what if" cycles and get yourself "unstuck." It is best used on your wrists, temples, or as a perfume/cologne.

Live Your Passion helps uplift and inspire you, boosting enthusiasm and encouraging an optimistic outlook. Its a blend of orange, sandalwood, nutmeg, lime, blue spruce, black spruce, ylang ylang, frankincense, and peppermint. It is best diffused or applied diluted on your wrists and temples, or used as a perfume/cologne.

Fun, inspired by Oola, is another great oil blend to use for inspiration. When you're enjoying what you're doing and have a fun mindset, you're more likely to see the fun in what you're doing, which helps you become more efficient and opens your eyes to more ideas. It is best diffused or applied to the back of your neck. Fun is already diluted with coconut oil, so you do not need to dilute it more.

Stress

Some stress can be good, leading you to more productivity... but there is a point where that shifts and stress becomes prohibitive. Thankfully, having a pleasant aroma surrounding you does help to mellow out your stress levels to more manageable levels, if not dissolve them to allow you to relax.

The best oils to use for mellowing your stress are frankincense, lavender, cedar wood, and citrus oils.

DIY essential oil blends for stress

Kick stress faster without the DIY

Because being busy typically equates to not having much DIY time and when you're stressed, the last thing you want to think about is scrambling for a DIY, there are a few spectacular pre made blends specifically crafted to help reduce your stress and unwind.

Stress Away is typically the go-to blend that smells like a margarita in a bottle (of course, without the alcohol). Just as it sounds, this blend of copaiba, lime, cedarwood, ocotea, and lavender essential oils with a hint of vanilla helps to melt that stress away. There isn't a bad way to use Stress Away. My favorite uses is diffusing (or wearing in diffusing jewelry), diluted and applied to your temples, wrists, and neck, and added to a cup of Epsom salts or baking soda and added in a warm bath.

Peace and Calming essential oil blend is fantastic for unwinding and de-stressing. Its a blend of tangerine, orange, slang slang, patchouli, and blue tansy that works wonders at calming your nerves. Its best used in the diffuser or diluted and applied to the back of your neck, on your back, in your belly button, or worn as a perfume/cologne.

The Tranquil Roller Blend comes in a convenient roller bottle, already diluted and ready to use. It is a blend of lavender, cedarwood and Roman chamomile that does an incredible job at calming your nerves and emotions during stressful moments. Roll it on the back of your neck, your temples, and your wrists as needed.

Energy

Running and/or managing a company requires a lot of energy. There is rarely time to sneak away for a nap or even afternoon coffee break, and being lethargic during that early afternoon slump doesn't do anything for reliable productivity.

There are a few DIY blends that work great to help you keep going without the afternoon slump getting in the way.

  • 2 drops each: lemon, peppermint, RC
  • 2-3 drops each lemon and peppermint
  • 2 drops each: lemon, peppermint, and rosemary

By themselves, lemon, peppermint, and rosemary each provide energizing qualities. Adding them together makes for excellent and different aromas that can magnify effects or change things up to give you options.

Boost your energy without the DIY

Pre-made essential oil blends, such as En-R-Gee, Fun, RC, and Fitness are fantastic options that require less counting and effort to diffuse or apply topically.

En-R-Gee is a blend of rosemary, juniper, lemongrass, nutmeg, balsam fir, clove, and black pepper essential oils. It is designed to improve your energy and alertness naturally, without overstimulating you or creating a crash later that sugar and caffeine cause.

Fun, inspired by Oola, helps you enjoy the tasks your working on, which helps you naturally become more energetic and enthusiastic. It is best diffused or applied to the back of your neck. Fun is already diluted with coconut oil, so you do not need to dilute it more.

RC is a blend of myrtle, pine, marjoram, lavender, cypress, tsuga, peppermint, and three different eucalyptus oils. This blend is incredibly energizing. It also helps support and soothe your breathing, and is a great blend to use first thing in the morning to give you a boost to wake up.

Fitness, inspired by Oola, is a blend of cypress, copaiba, basil, cysts, marjoram, peppermint, clary sage, blue spruce, balsam fir, nutmeg, and black pepper. This oil is pre-diluted with fractionated coconut oil and does not need to be diluted further to apply topically. This blend is uplifting, inspiring, helps you build confidence and energy so you can stay motivated and accomplish your goals.

To apply topically, add a couple drops to a pea sized amount of a carrier oil of your choice, then apply to your neck and wrists. To diffuse, just add 4-5 drops to your diffuser and enjoy!

Confidence

Sometimes when events and projects don't go as planned, our confidence can be shaken. Using essential oils can help keep you moving forward confidently, even despite setbacks.

Oils such as jasmine and bergamot are great for helping you regain the proper mindset to believe more in yourself. Hereare a free favorite blends:

Boost your confidence without the DIY

While DIY blends can be fun to make, having pre-made blends available is so convenient and takes some of the worry out of needing to create your own.

Build Your Dream Essential Oil Blend is so helpful with your mindset! The combination of lavender, ylang ylang, blue cypress, frankincense, hong kuai, melissa, blue spruce, balsam fir, sandalwood, coriander, mandarin, black pepper, bergamot, juniper, anise, blue tansy, geranium, and blue lotus essential oils helps to inspire hope, confidence, and euphoria for just the times you need them the most! This blend helps with motivating you with the courage to move forward and build on past successes.

Transformation Essential Oil Blend is energizing and stimulating to your mind, providing support needed to confidently make challenging changes. Its a blend of lemon, peppermint, clary sage, sandalwood, blue spruce, frankincense, cardamom, palo Santo, and ocotea. It is best diffused, or diluted and applied to your forehead and over your heart, or as a perfume/cologne.

Valor Essential Oil Blend is one of the most popular blends available. It is absolutely incredible for overcoming fear and opposition by helping you build courage, confidence, and self0esteem. It also helps calm, relax, and recenter you when you're feeling stressed, nervous, and crazy. It is a blend of spruce, rosewood, blue tansy, and frankincense essential oils, and is best used diluted and applied over your heart, throat, wrists, and solar plexus. It also makes the best perfume/cologne, and of course can be diffused as well.

While Live Your Passion helps uplift and inspire you, it boosts enthusiasm and encourages an optimistic outlook, which in turn helps you build confidence. It is best diffused or applied diluted on your wrists and temples, or used as a perfume/cologne.

Sleep

Sleep is so important, and is quite often overlooked. Most business owners and high level executives tend to sacrifice sleep as a means to have more time to be more productive.

I strongly urge you to check out Parkinson's Law. To summarize it in very basic terms: you get the same amount done regardless the (realistic) amount of time you have scheduled for that task. The one thing to sacrifice to gain more time to be more productive should never be your sleep. Remember: you can't pour from an empty cup.

And, yes, essential oils can help with your sleep too!

Lavender is probably the most popular essential oil to help with relaxation and sleep. When combined with oils like cedarwood (which is known for enhancing dreams) and vetiver (which is fantastic for relaxing your mind and body), and citrus oils, the relaxing effects are only enhanced.

The graphic below has a few of our favorites blends:

Enhance your sleep without the DIY

Peace and Calming essential oil blend is fantastic for unwinding and de-stressing. It does wonders for calming your nerves and helping you get ready for bed (it is also fantastic for helping kids unwind for bed too). Sometimes we add a drop of lavender to it too.

RutaVaLa is a blend that is very relaxing to your body and mind, and is also revitalizing. It is a blend of ruta graveolens, valerian, and lavender essential oils. This blend requires heavy dilution ( I recommend 3 drops per 5ml of carrier oil). You can also find it in a roller bottle pre-diluted and ready to be used topically. You can also diffuse it too.

The Tranquil Roller Blend does an incredible job at calming your nerves and emotions after a long, stressful day. Roll it on the back of your neck, your temples, and your wrists as needed.

Immune Support

I had to add in boosting your immune functions because lets face it: ain't nobody got time for that. The last thing you want as a busy professional is to spend unplanned down time stuck in bed unable to function. Or too busy tending to a runny nose and puffy eyes to be able to focus on being productive.

Rich in Monoterpines, frankincense, lemon, and tea tree are fantastic for maximizing your body's natural defenses, and for promoting overall wellness and supporting the body's natural detoxification systems.

Oregano essential oil is an immunity powerhouse, helping support your body to stay well.

Mix them together like in our favorite immunity blend below, and you'll be all set for maximizing your wellness, and spending more time focusing on what is important.

Boost your wellness without the DIY

When you need some extra support, you don't always think about DIY. There are a few blends that are perfect for helping you out!

Thieves Essential Oil Blend is one of those blends! Thieves is inspired by the legend of four 15th-century French thieves who formulated a purifying aromatic blend of clove, rosemary, lemon, cinnamon, and eucalyptus to protect them while robbing the dead and dying during the plague. It is our go-to oil for helping keep us healthy. The best way to use Thieves is diffused or diluted and applied on the bottoms of your feet.

ImmuPower Essential Oil Blend is another powerful immune boosting blend that is great to alternate with Thieves. It is a blend of hyssop, mountain savory, cysts, ravensara, frankincense, oregano, clove, cumin, and Idaho tansy essential oils. (I often alternate with oregano by itself too, because oregano is also a heavy hitting immune booster.) The best way to use ImmuPower is diffused or diluted and applied on the bottoms of your feet.

Breathe again is am invigorating blend of 4 types of eucalyptus, laurel, rose hip, peppermint, copaiba, myrtle, and manuka essential oils. It was formulated to give you an immune boost and soothe your breathing. It only comes in a roller ball bottle, which makes applying much easier. Just roll under your nose, on your chest, or sniff the bottle and you're ready to go!
